Black Lives Matter
Heartbroken, angry, sad, overwhelmed. There are so many emotions swirling around this important moment in our nation.
Hustle Hunters is committed to being a positive force in this world, and it cannot be business as usual when entire people groups are being oppressed and violently victimized.
The violence against the Black Community needs to stop. As a business in America, Hustle Hunters is a product of this economy and structured systems. We are committed to doing research on the history of the spaces we work in, our impact in them as a business practice.
Hustle Hunters has always donated 10% of it’s revenue to charity, and this summer we are committed to engaging our customers in a discussion and directing donations to organizations that are supporting and lifting the Black Community, and/or advocating for change and justice.
Philando Castile, Stephon Clark, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and countless others have been murdered senselessly. Enough is enough.
We are committed to listening and learning and adjusting how we operate in this world to ensure that our impact is lifting up and not bringing down. We’ve learned that there is no middle ground. The hiring space is an important one where bias is rampant, and we can be change agents here.
My heart especially goes out to the Black parents (both those who are Black themselves, and those raising Black children). Parenthood is hard enough without having the added challenge of navigating a society that both overtly and covertly (mass incarceration, bias, redlining, police violence, etc.) undermines your existence.
To our Black colleagues, friends, mentors, family - We are sorry. We are in many ways late to action on your behalf. We are learning and listening. We will do better.
Note: I’m a white solopreneur, and have used the term “we” throughout this note intentionally. As I grow a team, it’s important that these sentiments will be consistently true and are not just important for this moment today.
